Grapes from South Africa

Table grapes are crisp, juicy berries eaten fresh, in fruit platters and in salads, offered in red, white (green) and black colours, seedless and seeded. South Africa's table grapes are grown in several regions: the Northern Cape along the Orange River, Limpopo in the north, and the valleys of the Western Cape.
Export runs from October to May, starting with early grapes from the north and ending with late grapes from the Cape. Varieties include Crimson Seedless, Thompson Seedless, Prime, Autumn Crisp and Sweet Globe. Bunches are trimmed, packed in cartons, often with a sulphur pad, and shipped under refrigeration.
