Limes from South Africa

Limes are small, green citrus fruit with a sharp, fragrant juice and an aromatic peel, widely used in cooking, marinades, drinks and desserts. In South Africa they are grown in the warm citrus regions of Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Limes are available for export from March to September, with the main volumes from April to August. The fruit is harvested green, washed, graded by size and colour and packed in ventilated cartons. Limes are shipped in refrigerated containers at temperatures suited to citrus, which helps them keep their green colour and juice content during transport.
