Olives from South Africa

Fresh olives are the raw fruit of the olive tree, bitter when picked and intended for curing into table olives or for pressing into oil. They are supplied to processors, delis and food businesses that prepare their own olives. In South Africa, olives are grown in the Western Cape, whose Mediterranean climate suits the trees.
The harvest is available from March to August, with the main volumes from April to July, green olives coming first and riper, darker fruit later. Olives are sorted and graded by size, packed in crates or cartons and shipped chilled to arrive in good condition for processing.
