Lemons from South Africa

Lemons are bright yellow citrus fruit with a sharp, aromatic juice and a fragrant zest, essential in cooking, drinks, dressings and food service. South Africa is a major lemon exporter, with orchards in the Eastern Cape, the Western Cape and Limpopo.
The export season runs from March to August, with fruit available in good volumes throughout those months. The main varieties are Eureka and Lisbon. Lemons are washed, graded by size and colour, waxed where required and packed in ventilated cartons. They are shipped in refrigerated containers and hold their quality well during transport and storage.
