Peaches from South Africa

Peaches are soft, juicy stone fruit with a velvety skin and a sweet, aromatic flesh, yellow or white, eaten fresh, in desserts, salads and preserves. South African export peaches are grown in the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape and North West.
The season runs from October to March, with a succession of early, mid and late varieties. Varieties include Transvalia, Summer Zee, Ambercrest, Snow Angel and Majestic Delight, among many others. Peaches are picked at the right ripeness, graded by size and colour, packed in cartons or trays that protect the fruit from bruising, and shipped under a continuous cold chain.
